The lake and sea: In the immediate vicinity of Pakostane or more precisely above the coast roast 2 km. from the sea is another natural phenomenon of the freshwater lake Vrana. The lake ist about 14 km. long and 4 km. wide surrounded by fertile fields. North of the lake, One finds today the remains of the city and the Turkish Vrana Karawanserei. The town was once ruled by the first Croatian ruler. In the Middle Ages it was under the rule of the Knights Hospitallers and Templars.The Vrana Lake is a natural phenomenon that has much to offer: an ornithological reserve with various protected bird species eg herons.
